Burgers Galore! (Part 1 – Burger Junkyard)

I am pretty new to the burger fad that is going around in the city. And lately, there have been many specialty and gourmet burger restaurants mushrooming around town. Well, as my two sons are fans of burgers too, so It’s a no-brainer that I eventually go check out these gourmet burger outlets! Burgers are one the most renown comfort food. Kids love them. Even some of my buddies have huge cravings for them. So without further ado, let’s hop on the burger-wagon trail! Yee Haw!

The first place we went was Burger Junkyard (Halal/pork free) at Kota Damansara. Situated near The Strand shopping mall, this place has quite a good following among fans of burgers. Only problem one may face to go there is the bad traffic as there is MRT constructions going on currently and parking can be a pain during weekdays. So, I’d suggest going on a weekend early lunch or a public holiday. (My 2 sons pictured here checking out the menu. Lol!)

Burger Junkyard has a funky interior. The walls are filled with graffiti art and some of the walls (not pictured) are also decorated with items you might see at junkyards!

Upon placing our orders, the cashier handed us a order number tag with a rat plush toy! Cool. Lol!

Burger Junkyard offers beef and chicken burgers and they also have a selection of vegan burgers too. This one is called Steamed Cheese (beef) which is one of their best seller (RM12.90). As the name suggests, the cheese ( a combination of pressed cheddar, processed cheddar & smoked Mozzerella cheese) is steamed and poured onto the burger before serving. Their burger set comes with a good serving of fries with their own special sauce at the side. 7.5/10

This one is called ‘Beef in Blanket’. It’s basically beef burger wrapped with beef bacon strips. 5/10

I chosed the ‘Vampire Slayer’ burger (RM15.90)! Since my two boys ordered beef, I decided to try with chicken instead. Their chicken is not minced into a patty (like beef) but instead was a piece of boneless chicken thigh. Why ‘Vampire Slayer’?? Well it’s loaded with a combo of garlic confit and aioli sauces, garlic butter and garlic bits; hence the name. Lol! One of the best chicken burger I’ve tasted! 9/10.

Overall verdict…. PLUS: A groovy place with a great chicken burger (ala Vampire Slayer). MINUS: Parking is a hassle on weekdays and traffic is bad due to MRT construction.
